Job Title: E-Discovery Support Specialist - Legal Department 

The E-Discovery Support Specialist provides technical support and administrative support to the Mount Sinai Health System for all electronic discovery tasks and projects through all stages of the Electronic Reference Model (“EDRM”).  The e-discovery Support Specialist has primary responsibility for the issuance of litigation hold notices, for engaging with all appropriate stakeholders (including attorneys, business units, IT resources, and data custodians) to identify relevant ESI and other records, and for digitally preserving and collecting ESI using Mount Sinai’s internal e-discovery solution (EnCase eDiscovery). The e-discovery Support Specialist will coordinate all e-discovery related tasks between the IT department, the legal department, external e-discovery vendors, and outside counsel, and will also engage in ESI processing, searching, review, analysis, and production as needed. The e-discovery Support Specialist will also assist the Health System with adherence to eDiscovery best practices and standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support to the Health System for all e-discovery projects through all stages of the EDRM;
  • Performs technical and administrative functions for e-discovery collection and processing platform (EnCase e-Discovery);
  • Coordinates the issuance of litigation hold notices and engaging in appropriate follow up with document custodians (including coordinating custodian surveys and custodian interviews regarding ESI and data storage/usage specifications);
  • Coordinates ESI identification, preservation, and collection from custodians, internal repositories, and external sources (including mobile devices);
  • Coordinates e-discovery related tasks as between the IT department, the legal department, external e-discovery vendors and outside counsel;
  • Creates and maintains matter specific ESI repositories within internal and external ESI processing platforms;
  • Digitally preserves and collects relevant ESI from data custodians using Encase e-Discovery and other IT forensics tools;
  • Manages ESI processing, review, analysis and production as needed;
  • Maintains clear and updated chain of custody documentation for all ESI preservation, collection and production;
  • Provide on-site support and assistance to legal resources regarding ESI and e-discovery as needed;
  • Handles additional related e-Discovery and IT security projects as assigned;
  • Provides IT support to the attorneys and other Legal Department staff who are working remotely.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required. Bachelor preferred.
  • 3+ years’ of IT experience required.
  • Computer forensics knowledge a plus.
  • Encase, Office 365.
