Scotiabank Convention Centre (SCCN), in partnership with Niagara Falls Business
Events (NFBE), is looking for a dynamic professional ideally from theOttawa
area to join our team as an Account Director. Reporting to the Director of
Sales and Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for
prospecting and securing meetings, conferences, and incentive travel business
for SCCN as well as the member businesses of NFBE. The primary market focus of
this position is Canadian national associations. The ideal candidate must be
eager to explore and develop niche association markets.

Success in this role will be measured by the number of leads developed, RFPs
distributed, and business events secured both for the facility and the

Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
* Sourcing, contacting, promoting and engaging potential or existing
clients through a proactive approach, including but not limited to
familiarization tours, client receptions and more;
* Achieving monthly and annual sales target, and monthly activity goals;
* Preparing and implementing annual and quarterly sales action plans;
* Representing SCCN and NFBE at industry trade shows and conventions
throughout North America;
* Planning and executing market and industry initiatives, as well as
business development missions;
* Maintaining exposure and industry involvement through various key client
and industry organizations;
* Prospecting new and potential clients by conducting research and
following up on leads;
* Travelling to the Niagara region regularly for client visits;
* Preparing and delivering sales presentations;
* Participating in the production of sales collateral and materials;
* Producing necessary documentation to support sales actions;
* Fulfilling other duties as assigned by the management team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Attributes:
* Bachelor s Degree in Sales and Business, or Tourism and Hospitality,
three years additional experience as a substitute for a degree;
* Three to five years of experience in convention centre or hotel sales
with a primary focus on the Canadian associations market;
* Possession of a valid driver s license with reliable transportation,
and the ability to travel regularly to the Niagara region;
* Ability to travel to trade shows and sales events as needed, and
possession of a valid passport;
* Superior English communication skills with the ability to communicate
effectively both in writing and verbally;
* Bilingual in French (verbal and written) is considered an asset;
* Possession of a well-developed, reliable network of meeting planners with
established relationships;
* Previous experience preparing letters, reports, and RFPs;
* Proficiency in using electronic booking systems, Microsoft Office Suite,
and other technology;
* Ability to organize and prioritize work to achieve short- and long-term
* Ability to work independently to produce and maintain a high level of
sales activity;
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
destination stakeholders;
* Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, and to
support a 24/7 organization.
