Job Description Summary

The GW Campus COVID-19 Investigation Team (CCIT) is comprised of public health faculty and staff at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health. The CCIT is responsible for GW's COVID-19 surveillance activities, case investigation, contact tracing, and coordinating with the D.C. Department of Health.

The Campus COVID-19 Interview Assistant is responsible for performing the initial interview of campus persons (students, staff, faculty) with probable or confirmed COVID-19 infection to gather information necessary for public health case investigation and contact tracing. GW will hire, train and deploy a team of Campus COVID-19 Interview Assistants. Candidates must be able to work both onsite locally and remotely and also have ready access to high-speed internet to support remote work. Candidates must be proficient in the use of mobile phones and Microsoft Office applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gathering information about symptoms, exposures, and contacts (i.e., persons the case has been in contact with while potentially infectious).
  • Provide information about the illness and public health guidance on the methods of disease prevention and control.
  • Assess the capability of cases to comply with isolation protocols, including the self-isolation setting.
  • Identify and elevate those cases who meet the high priority or high-risk criteria to the Case Investigation Team for additional intervention.
  • Accurately enter interview data into a database and follow all GW policies and procedures.
  • Assess persons who have been in contact with someone with probable or confirmed COVID-19 to assess symptoms, refer for testing if symptomatic, and enrollment in the Monitoring Program.
  • Provide information about the illness as well as public health guidance on quarantine protocols, health monitoring, and additional methods of disease prevention and control.

The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. This is a limited term position for up to 1 year.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Typical Hiring Range
$16.37 - $21.29 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
