BC Cancer Abbotsford is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist who specializes in Data Coordination and Data analysis primarily responsible for clinical trials data management. As the Medical Data Coding Coordinator, you will participate in the coordination of clinical trials from the protocol review and approval stage through to activation, trial closure and follow-up.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to design data capture tools; capture and record clinical trials data; monitor and promote the quality and integrity of data; and prepare summary reports.
What you'll do
Complete study case report forms to capture clinical trials data.
Code and input data by utilizing coding systems.
Correlate, organize and calculate trials data for reports, audits and other client needs.
In collaboration with the Clinical Trials team, design and develop clinical trial data collection tools.
Plan and prepare for internal and external audits in collaboration with other members of the Clinical Trials team, meeting with monitors as required.
Review protocols and provide input on resource impact issues related to data management.
Work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator and other members of the Clinical Trials Unit to complete and submit appropriate documents to the Research Ethics Board.
Obtain required documentation from internal and external sources to recommend and implement improvements to data capture processes.
What you bring
Completion of a recognized Health Information Management Program.
Eligibility for membership with the Canadian College of Health Information Management.
Two (2) years' recent, related data management experience in a research or clinical trials environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification such as Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) Clinical Research Associate/Coordinator Certification preferred.
You have demonstrated:
Relevant clinical research knowledge.
Ability to perform data capture, management and retrieval using automated or manual information systems.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize work and set priorities.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
