With the initial build of the nbn now complete the company is transforming itself into a service led organisation.  A key part of this will be simplifying nbn and its business processes, to do this, we also need to simplify the underlying systems environment. 

A plan for the simplification of nbn systems has been developed called the systems digital roadmap (SDR) which lays out a 2–3 year plan to simplify and modernise our systems architectural landscape to support the future needs of nbn, it’s partners, retailers and ultimately the customers who use the broadband service.  

A bit about your role

As the Transformation Management Office (TMO) lead, you will build a transformation office to ensure that the programme delivers the key outcomes of the transformation working with and delivering through the architecture, delivery and operations teams.

This role is first and foremost a people leader, responsible for recruiting, organising and inspiring individuals by creating a high performing culture in which we do great work. Getting the best people and getting the best out of people.

It is also critical to facilitate and drive the successful delivery of the roadmap at the right time, cost and quality profile – ensuring that the outcomes of the programme are achieved

In addition to this, your accountabilities will also include:

Team and accountabilities establishment

  • Creation of a Transformation Management Office to support the delivery of SDR within SEO

TMO leadership + management

  • Establishment of the foundational program management activities and associated reporting, including briefings to SEO SLT, Transformation Team and other relevant business areas on progress

Portfolio Management

  • SDR Plan Management

Value Realisation

  • Ensure the benefits of the SDR are achieved and understood in sufficient detail and can be measured


  • Systems are decommissioned as expected (within allocated timeframe and costs

Change and process (in SEO)

  • Change within SEO is managed effectively such that teams accept and adopt the change needed to ensure the SDR is successful

A bit about you

As the Transformation Management Office (TMO) lead, you will have demonstrated experience in complex transformations which includes establishing delivery processes and governance, while operating as part of an effective leadership team across a range of portfolios.

Ideally your experience will come from a large Telco or IT environment with advanced skills and experience in Issues, Risk, Dependency, Programme Scheduling and Programme Change Management. You will have the ability to forecast, track and manage financials including both Capex and Opex to secure executive sponsorships and approvals.

Your experience will also include coaching staff and stakeholders in portfolio management. You will need extensive stakeholder management experience for both customers and suppliers and have the ability to influence others to move toward a common vision or goal
