As a strategist who sits in the Global Markets Division, you will play an integral role on the trading floor. Throughout the Division, strategists are using quantitative analysis, market observations and technology to solve business problems.


The Global Markets Division builds strong relationships with our institutional clients, which include fund managers, corporations and financial service providers. We help them buy and sell financial products on exchanges around the world, raise funding, and manage risk. The Sales Strats team performs quantitative and other analysis, utilizing tools, models and data to help facilitate these transactions. Our team includes experts in these areas and we work with Sales, Trading, Technology and other parts of the Division, and with clients.


You will help grow Goldman Sachs’ market share in our futures and listed options business. You are joining a small team of strategists, within the GS Strats community and a flagship FCM business (Futures Commission Merchant) alongside Prime Services and Equity Sales & Trading. You have good computer programming skills and are comfortable working with data and performing analyses for financial markets solutions. Your primary responsibilities will be working with the team to oversee our existing processes and analytics, building new things and content that differentiate us from our competitors, and helping to work with internal partners and external clients of the business. You thrive in an environment where you are working on a mix of daily tasks and strategic projects, and interfacing with others and close to the markets.  



  • Object-oriented programming skills (e.g. Python, Java, C++) and technological proficiency
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree (e.g. MFE or technical science)
  • Sound basic quantitative and mathematical skills, with familiarity or knowledge in time-series/regression, statistics or data science a plus
  • Interest or familiarity with financial markets and products: global equity index, fixed income & major commodities are relevant for this role, and their basic price & derivative markets (like curve, funding or volatility)
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal) and critical thinking, general interest and enthusiasm to learn and contribute
