HSSE Manager

Job Description

Position Summary: Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and supervising Health, Safety, and Environmental programs including Process Safety Systems for Exterran’s Global Workforce.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, manages and coordinates Exterran’s HSE Management System in alignment with Exterran HSE Policies

  • Provide support to other Exterran departments/business units in the development and distribution of HSE related data for bid packages etc.

  • Manages ISNetworld account and serves as point contact for clients and sub-contractors concerning ISNetworld issues

  • Manages Intelex incident management system to ensure it is fit for purpose

  • Develop and update Emergency Response Plans in conjunction with local HSSE Representatives

  • Work with Divisional and Regional HSSE colleagues on improving and maintaining our incident management system and participates in the incident classification process

  • Enhance all current systems to comply with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 45001 certification standards

  • Provide support to the SVP of HSSE on strategic goals, performance improvement plans, and safety improvement plans

  • Provide support to US based HSE Coordinators on OSHA Compliance issues

  • Keeps current on Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) standards and/or International standards, activities and recent decisions that might affect policies and programs and attends seminars and training as needed

  • Reviews and ensure follow-up on all related HSSE reports, investigations, hazard reports and notices

  • Presents Health, Safety and Environmental related presentations and/or training as requested

  • Assists in serious Incident Investigations, HSSE inspections, audits and hazard assessments when requested

  • Provide guidance and advice to health, safety, security and environmental colleagues around the organization

  • Facilitate working groups for systems improvement


Required Skills or Tools:

  • Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills

  • Proficient with SharePoint

  • Proficient with ISNetworld

  • Proficient with HSE tools and standards

  • Excellent verbal and written communications

  • Experience with Incident Management System or Enterprise Risk Management software desirable


Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in oil & gas or engineering, procurement, construction HSE roles.

  • Prior Leadership Skills with progressive increasing responsibilities.

  • Experience with gas compression and process equipment desirable.

  • ISO Lead Auditor trained/certified desirable.


Physical Strain:

  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
  • Travel as needed throughout assigned area including international
  • Travel out of area for investigations, meetings, and/or training
  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and stairs
  • Inspect all associated equipment
  • Wear all potential personal protection equipment
  • Escape in the event of an emergency
  • Operate a company vehicle
