Job SummaryThis position will be working in assigned commodity area of facilities materials, repair, operations & supplies, and under general direction of Purchasing Contract Managers, assists in securing goods and services at the most cost effective price while promoting ethical business practices with all parties, and maintaining the highest level of integrity. Assists in administering contracts and price agreements which requires knowledge of products/services, pricing, terms and how vendors require orders be placed per each contract or agreement. Places purchase orders, prepares correspondence, tracks Request for Proposals and Contracts through the process, secures quotations/proposals, expedites orders, maintains confidential document files, exercises given fiscal responsibility, and functions as a resource. Coordinates information dissemination to and from faculty and staff as well as Professional Service providers. It is important to recognize that these services are provided for all our campuses. The duties performed are within the law of agencies representing the authority of Indiana University to the business community.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED and three years of purchasing or related experience with advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Computer knowledge and skills including willingness and ability to learn in-house systems as needed.
- Knowledge of Facilities Equipment & Supplies.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position using the computer for long periods. Intense concentration is required due to constant interruptions.
