Purpose of the Position

An opportunity exists to be part of one of New South Wales' largest and most comprehensive Orthopaedic Services. The position will involve management of emergency admissions (particularly complex Shoulder and Elbow trauma), elective Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and subspecialty outpatient clinics. Subspecialty fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery is required. A proven record in research, teaching or quality improvement is highly regarded.

Orthopaedic management of Shouder, Elbow and Trauma presentations at Royal North Shore & Ryde Hospitals. Services will be provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis to emergency and elective referrals.
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.

If the opportunity arises, this position may be cross credentialed to work at Ryde Hospital which operates under a Fee for Service arrangement.

Selection Criteria

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the specialty of Orthopaedic Surgery or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.Sub-specialty Fellowship Training in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery.Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery.Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship.Willingness and to provide leadership in the management of complex multi-trauma admissions and act as primary Admitting Medical Officer in these cases.Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
