Job Title:         Project Engineering Manager

Job Location:  700 South Babcock Street, Melbourne, Florida, 32901 and various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States; must be able to work in locations of Melbourne, FL; Chicago, IL; or West Henrietta, NY.

Job Type:        Full Time

Duties:  Manage the technical contractual scope of the Project. Responsible for the customer acceptance of the Project technical solution; the Engineering Work Package (WP) Quality, Cost, Delivery (QCD) commitment; and serves as customer interface for all technical matters. Manage the Project technical risks and the corresponding mitigation plans. Validate the technical design with peers and Solution Director. Drive resolution of technical issues. Generate and maintain the Project’s Engineering Management Plan (EMP). Capture and manage external changes to enable Project Manager to raise variation orders. Chair the Project Change Control Board (CCB) and manage internal changes. Allocate tasks across Project Engineering team and ensure coordination between all Engineering functions. Deploy the applicable Engineering processes, Methods & Tools and ensure adherence. Ensure the delivery and approval of the Project Safety Case. Identify applicable regulations in the customer location and ensure they are taken into account in the Project's design. Share Environment, Health and Security (EHS) rules with Project Engineering team. Manage the interface within the Project core team, Program team and to the Leadership teams. Be the main point of contact to the Project Engineering team. Provide all technical documents to the Project core team to enable industrialization, sourcing, installation, safety assessment, testing and commissioning. Provide Program team with on-time inputs and set formal delivery expectations. Collaborate with Engineering Managers to ensure Projects are adequately staffed. Support Project Quality and Safety Manager (PrQSM) during the preparation and realization of the Development for Quality (DFQ) gate reviews. Provide Project Engineering status reports and KPIs to Project Engineering/Project Management Leadership teams.

Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Business Management or related field; and 3 years of work experience in job offered or 3 years of work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include one year of experience with each of the following:

  1. experience in the rail signaling industry;
  2. experience executing multi-system signaling projects for rail signaling solutions (including Onboard, Wayside and Crossing systems); 
  3. experience with positive train control (PTC) signaling systems;
  4. experience designing, testing and commissioning signaling systems using ElectroLogIXS, iVPI, UCII, XP4, AFTC5, EC5, and LCP hardware;
  5. experience training teams on interlocking concepts;
  6. experience in railroad signaling standards and norms; and
  7. experience with rail signaling customers.

    Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States; must be able to work in locations of Melbourne, FL; Chicago, IL; or West Henrietta, NY.
