Research Technician, Department of Medicine BGRO - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Department of Medicine BGRO currently has a Research Technician position open to work in a translational research laboratory that is involved in pancreatic cancer research. The lab is also involved in drug discovery and drug development. This will be a new part-time position for three months and may be extended beyond that pending funding and work ethic of employee. The position requires some experience or willingness to work with mice.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs cell culture techniques.
  • Extraction of DNA and RNA from cells or tissues
  • Help with tissue sections and routine histology staining
  • Cares for the mice with pancreatic tumors including measurement of tumors and drug treatments.
  • Shares the responsibility with other lab members in maintaining lab computers, software, printers, and laboratory equipment, as well as helping in washing and autoclaving glassware, CO2 tanks etc.
  • Interacts with the research team and attends weekly lab meetings
  • Maintains a laboratory notebook and uploads data onto the BOX
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a science field
  • Speak and understand English
  • Must take all IACUC training and requirements to work with animals
