About the team & role
As the Senior Data Analyst - 5G, you will be a key member of the Customer Value Analytics team and a business-critical contributor under the Data Science & Analytics function within the new Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE), Marketing and Revenue.
The DCoE has been established as a core function of the Marketing and Revenue team at Optus to help realise the vision of becoming a customer-centric, digital telco, driven by a data and advanced analytics capability that delivers exceptional and cost-effective employee and customer experiences and optimises customer and household revenue growth.
The DCoE will empower Marketing & Revenue, Digital, Sales and the wider business to create more profitable and personalised products, offers, content, communications, sales and service experiences delivered at the right time, in the right channel, communicated in the right way, in the right context, to the right target customers and prospective customers - with Real Time data on customer behaviors and business results!
You will be a strong proactive contributor to the analytics strategy, capability, and delivery of insight and analytics programs of work required by the specific business unit/s they support to make better business decisions, achieve their annual budget/revenue targets, and explore incremental growth opportunities.
Additionally, you will primarily support the 5G Network Experience team by developing customer insights, leveraging networks datasets to guide and influence marketing campaigns and working closely with the Associate Director, 5G Network Experience to maximise the value of the 5G rollout.
Core responsibilities

Mentoring Data Analysts, in querying customer data, performing analyses, and presenting findings in a clear and understandable language;

Translating complex business questions into analytical tasks;
Performing data, statistical and commercial analysis to understand how customer behaviour, product changes and market dynamics impact the Consumer business;
Consolidating information from across the Insights team to present a holistic view of customer behaviour and market trends including Research, Data Science, Commercial, External Market Analysis and Marketing effectiveness;
Developing recommendations with a clearly articulated, structured argument; &
Delivering findings back to stakeholders to drive well-informed decision-making.

Importantly, you will be engaging and collaborating with their key internal stakeholders to understand the key business problems to be solved and the key business metrics they need to impact through business analysis and intelligence, supporting the translation of requirements into analytical tasks.
What makes you perfect for this role?

Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative field (eg Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Statistics);
Advanced SQL coding skills with significant/demonstrated exposure to a variety of Marketing, Sales and/or Commercial functions in a large Matrix organisation;
Experience in complex stakeholder management to achieve alignment around a common set of goals and influence business outcomes;
Strong understanding of data warehouse structure and data extraction, underpinned by excellent communication and presentation skills;
Demonstrated sound business, financial and commercial acumen, with excellent planning and organisational ability;
Advanced proficiency in analytical techniques (SQL, statistical modelling), plus a working understanding of geo-spatial tools such as QGIS;
Must be a proactive self-starter, with the ability to use a high level of initiative, results orientated with an attention to detail and accuracy; &
Technical understanding/knowledge of Mobile Networks is desirable but not 100% essential.
