JOB SUMMARY 

Manage all laboratory assets, provide support services to facilitate the repair, maintenance, calibration, and certification of laboratory instrumentation. Acts on the behalf of asset owner, responsible for administering repair, PM, and calibration work order requests, customer inquiries, and associated Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) Record. Ensures customer satisfaction with all work order requirements, following up on all requests, efficiently meeting and advancing the business needs, and working closely with all members of the wider team to provide a proactive and focused approach. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Liaises with staff regarding services required for installation, maintenance, moves, facilities and relocations. 

Supports the proposed items of instrumentation.

Acts as the first point of contact for all self-perform techicians, and third-party contractors, ensuring that they have a valid EHS and GMP induction, a thorough risk assessment, and an official method statement and permit, prior to the commencement of work. 

Using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), administers the closure manage work orders in compliance with procedures and practices. Keeps end users apprised of work order status and acts as a lead for the timely escalation of service request(s). Ensures CMMS records are updated accurately and reflects the current status of the equipment. 

Performs daily equipment preparation and setup. Prepares quality control standards and performs checks on instruments, ensuring that equipment available for staff scientist. 

Replenishes solvents used in conjunction with laboratory equipment, as needed. 

Ensures purchase order(s) are in place in conjunction with prior commencement of non-contract work. 

Assists in safety and quality audit preparation; retrieves documentation for inspection purposes.

Prepares the mobile-phase solutions that are used in conjunction with experiments conducted on laboratory equipment. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate work and assign tasks.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE  

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), Science or Chemist degree helpful and a minimum of one years of related experience or equivalent work (or lab experience in school) experience preferred; pharmaceutical and/or GMP experience preferred. 

Previous customer service or laboratory experience preferred. 

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES 

None 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees. 

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE 

Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages. 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills. 

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES 

Experience with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suite, and Online Help. Knowledge of GxP and understanding of a lab instrument services environment. Experience working with databases and/or systems.
