We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler- This position is responsible for supporting 1-2 surgeons, scheduling surgeries and post OP appointments. May float to other sites where the physicians work.

What Will You Be Doing?

-

Schedules all surgeries for assigned physician(s). Coordinates physician, operating room, and parent/patient availability. Works with health plans to prior authorize procedures, and documents authorization number in Epic. Provides timely communication to patients and families, and effectively manages re-schedules and cancellations. Utilizes Epic and OR Manager software.

Schedules appointments and manages the calendars for assigned physicians. Adds case information to Outlook calendars for all physicians. Updates CVs for all physicians, tracks CV information on Faculty 180, and assists physicians with obtaining and recording CME requirements.

Assists with physicians' transportation arrangements; scheduling hotel and airfare as needed, assisting with conference registration, and completing reimbursement forms.

Coordinates Visiting Professor visits.

Provides check-out and/or registration coverage to clinic when needed.

Prepares correspondence, documents, reports, and other materials which may be moderately complex and/or confidential, sometimes requiring independent judgment.

Works collaboratively and effectively with other departments and outside agencies.

Coordinates multiple, simultaneous ongoing program demands (multi-tasks).

Complete travel, gas, or other reimbursements as needed.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.

What Are We Looking For?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:

-

High school graduate or equivalent.
-

Knowledge of filing, word processing, spreadsheet, medical terminology, coding, and office skills.
-

Two years previous secretarial experience in the medical office setting; surgical scheduling experience preferred.

Proficient in the use of a personal computer.
-

Excellent customer service skills to interact with department staff and the public. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with the public in a polite and effective manner.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
