Job Description


PeaceHealth is seeking a System VP Ambulatory Ventures for a Full Time, Day position.


Responsible for ensuring PeaceHealth’s ambulatory venture operations align with organizational strategic initiatives, operational, financial and performance goals/metrics.Responsible for the strategic development and management of ancillary operations within Ambulatory Services including, but not limited to, Outpatient Imaging, surgery center strategy/development and Oncology services.Leads the strategic assessment, implementation and management of acquisitions, partnership opportunities, and business development plans.Responsible for integrating these services into a consumer-oriented offering with a consistent brand and experience throughout our ministries.Promotes a high level of collaboration and partnership with senior leaders at system and within the PeaceHealth acute care and provider medical group networks Serves on various system committees and projects, and also takes a leadership role in care delivery matters, which advance operations of Ambulatory Services ventures across our ministry.


  • Provides executive oversight including P&L responsibility for ambulatory venture operations across PeaceHealth ministries.Oversees the development and successful implementation of strategic and operational plans in support of operational goals.Leads the strategic planning of future ambulatory locations by conducting detailed market analysis and thorough geographic site due diligence with support from key system service departments.

  • Advises on decisions regarding acquisitions, divestitures, program expansions, sponsorships, joint ventures, and other partnerships, in partnership with senior leadership and ambulatory leadership team.Partners with senior leadership in community outreach and networking, developing partnerships and continued opportunities to expand PeaceHealth’s care delivery model in support of our patients.Acts as the primary PeaceHealth joint venture executive responsible for representing PeaceHealth on the identified joint venture boards.

  • Partners with joint venture partners in business development including the creation of new sites, development plans, and modeling.Develops and executes a system-wide marketing and business development strategy for the network of ambulatory locations.

  • Develops innovative programs and procedures to be more responsive to patient needs.Develops, implements and monitors statistical reporting systems that generate data on clinic utilization.Leads strategies to enhance patient access.

  • Works collaboratively with system service line, acute care and provider practice leadership to ensure the operational and financial success of ambulatory venture locations.

  • Provides strategic leadership including anticipating, envisioning, maintaining flexibility and empowering others to create strategic and operational change in support and alignment of organizational objectives.

  • Ensures that all aspects of ambulatory venture activities meet appropriate federal, state and local rules, and comply with CMS standards.Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring all operations and programs initiating changes when necessary.

  • Manages the operational development of future ambulatory venture partnerships and locations through a matrix role requiring the input of key clinical and administrative leaders throughout PeaceHealth.

  • Facilitates the application of clinical protocols and procedures to improve patient and physician satisfaction driving performance in both clinical metrics and outcome measures.Oversees development of clinic metrics and annual operating plan and monitors performance

  • Ensures staffing models are in place to ensure administrative and clinical operations functions at its highest ability.Develops and refines processes to continually improve department clinical operations, caregiver and patient workflows. Promotes high levels of satisfaction with patients, caregivers and providers.Focuses on patient satisfaction strategies in ambulatory venture models.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.

  • Master’s Degree required or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.


  • Minimum of 10 years healthcare leadership experience required.

  • Significant experience in healthcare systems with acute and ambulatory delivery models.Must understand the use of evidence in decision making within acute and ambulatory care environments

  • Experience with managing complex programs and projects, specifically with a focus on customer service, service excellence and patient experience activities.

  • Experience with proven positive outcomes regarding financial sustainability initiatives and demonstrated successful completion of quality improvement projects with desired outcomes.


  • Board Certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives highly desired (FACHE).


  • Business acumen and negotiating skills in a highly complex, matrixed environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, high integrity, and ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, understanding the needs of different audiences and stakeholders.

  • Collaborative leader with a demonstrated track record in working with all levels of management and skilled in managing team dynamics.

  • Competencies in team building, conflict management, problem solving, and critical thinking.

  • Ability to manage complex functions and activities and deal with highly sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Ability to engage multiple constituencies with dignity and respect.

  • Understanding, commitment, and role model to PeaceHealth’s mission, values, and leadership model.

  • In depth knowledge of physician practice acquisitions through employment, professional service agreements and joint operating agreements.

  • Extensive knowledge of ambulatory regulatory compliance relating to both state and federal healthcare guidelines and requirements.


  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion at least 66% of the time.

  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.

  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.

  • Job duties occasionally require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (less than 34% of work time).
