The position

As part of our continual growth our Property Claims team are now seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our new corporate office located in the heart of the Sydney CBD.

Working with the Leadership and Management team and in particular the Branch Manager this role will see you provide day-to-day leadership and technical mentoring to your team ensuring the delivery of a cost effective, professional and customer focused claims service, while developing staff and implementing quality initiatives. This role has a significant focus on leadership, customer service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the day to day operations of the Property Claims team;

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement including skills gaps analysis within the team.

  • Assess present and future needs, trends for your business unit;

  • Review staff performance and provide training and coaching where required;  

  • Providing day to day leadership and direction to the team to ensure delivery of KPI’s

  • Build and develop external business relationships with icare and external network

  • Preparing management reports.

  • Manage daily workflow in order to maintain client service standards;

  • Manage personal portfolio of claims if required

  • Acting as a point of escalation for any disputes

  • Attendance at stakeholder meetings/conferences/phone calls when required

  • Ensure high levels of customer service are delivered with a level of empathy and understanding  

  • Authorising Payments.

  • Work with Branch Manager to set Team priorities and plan 

What we are looking for

  • At least 10 years of Claims experience in Property or Industry specific ANZIIF qualifications (desirable) with 5 years management experience.

  • Desired: strong technical expertise in Property,  Commercial Claims.

  • Experience in relationship building and stakeholder management;

  • High level interpersonal skills;

  • Strong business acumen;

  • Experience in achieving business targets;

  • Negotiation skills;

  • Coaching and mentoring skills;

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline and/or demonstrated experience in a similar role and

  • Commitment to quality and accuracy and continuous Improvement

  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word/ Excel)
