The VFX Render Farm Technician's primary tasks are to manage usage and allocation of digital resources including, monitor, control and maintain renders on the farm and image processes and perform associated administrative tasks to ensure the resource needs of the facility and productions.
Working with Producers, Supervisors, Coordinators, and Artists from various departments, to ensure established priorities are met. This is an excellent entry-level position to gain experience in our studio.
Ensuring overall render farm performance and efficiency, maximizing render farm?s resources
Working closely with all other departments to keep on schedule
Recording documentation and information accurately while producing reports
Identifying potential issues and participates in problem-solving and tool building activities, making required corrections
Researching, testing and evaluating various software to enhance work productivity
Render Wrangling is typically required into the evenings and on weekends depending on project demands. Flexible working hours are required for this position.
Minimum 1-year experience in a Render Technician role
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent professional Film-related experience
Candidates with a background in Visual Effects, Animation TV, and Post-Production pipelines.
Strong knowledge of PC hardware with a focus on visual/media systems
Experience in relevant software packages including Maya, Houdini, Nuke, VRay, Redshift, Arnold, and other industry-specific software
Experience with render farm management systems such as Deadline Monitor
Experience in Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms and production management systems like Shotgun
Experience in scripting such as Python is beneficial
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to record information accurately and produce reports
Ability to take direction, work independently, multi-task and prioritize tasks
Ability to analyze, problem-solve and deliver tasks under tight deadlines
Eligible to work in Canada
