Frisco Family Services is seeking skilled volunteer support through Taproot
Plus. Taproot Plus is an online platform that connects nonprofits to
professionals seeking strong opportunities to volunteer their talent for good.
All Taproot Plus projects are vetted and once Frisco Family Services selects a
volunteer applicant, Taproot Plus will provide resources and support to help
make the project a success.

Frisco Family Services is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-deductible organization
that helps members of our Frisco and Frisco ISD communities who are facing
hunger, homelessness and other urgent needs improve their quality of life and
achieve self-sufficiency.

Business Planning - Business planning and strategy

Part of the non-profit services offered by Frisco Family Services' is Frisco
Resale, our upscale resale store. The resale store s sales account for abou
35 percent of the organization s operating revenue and helps fund programs
and services. We accept new or like new household goods, furniture, clothing
from various sources including private donations and overstock from other
businesses. It operates very much like a retail store and hence needs a
marketing plan or a deep dive into what is working and what is not. Fifteen
years ago, the store was bringing in a lot of money but has suffered a slow
decline with competition moving in. We would like someone to conduct research
into the lay of the resale land, our competition, conduct a SWAT analysis, and
recommend a mix of the four P's not only limited to price point and product,
but creative promotions tactics, and some digital advertising and marketing
campaigns that are small but effective. We only have one store, and we serve
only Frisco and Frisco ISD residents, so we could be compared to a small "mom
and pop" business even though we are classified as a nonprofit. The goal is to
increase foot traffic and then turn that traffic into sales. We have a small
team including a Director of Strategy, a Director of Business Operations, a
Resale Manager and three more full-time staff who work at the store. We also
have part-timers and volunteers who sort donations, do pick ups, and tend the
register. Plus me, the marketing manager, so we have the manpower. We need a
visionary with retail experience or a former business owner or marketing VP to
help us see our potential as most of us come from the non-profit world.
