Job Summary

The College Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager is a key role for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

Reporting to the College Head of Marketing and Communications, the postholder will be responsible for developing and directing the student recruitment strategies for the Schools in collaboration with the academic leads and the Head of Marketing & Communications, also working closely with colleagues in the College and central teams. They will lead a team that delivers student recruitment activity for Schools, ensuring dynamic plans are in place and adapted as required.

The postholder will act as the Professional Services lead for UG and PGT admissions and student recruitment for the College, working closely with academic leads and directing activity to ensure the Schools reaches their targets. They will be the school’s main point of contact in the Student Recruitment team and build strong relationships with key people in the schools and College. They will work closely with schools and central admissions, reporting regularly to the Head of School / Head of College / Director of Education.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for developing and leading the implementation of targeted digital and offline marketing plans for the undergraduate, postgraduate and international markets with particular emphasis on digital marketing and new media technologies.
  • Responsibility for developing an international marketing strategy to fit with the priorities of the College and University and its implementation.
  • Responsibility for developing the enquirer and applicant contact strategy and its delivery.
  • Responsibility for the delivery of all College marketing collateral (writing and editing copy, and commissioning and gathering images) including College content for the undergraduate and postgraduate exhibition materials.
  • Undertaking market research and evaluation including competitor analysis and market scanning to help identify new opportunities for the College, e.g. new programmes and new markets.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Degree level education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of numeracy and computer literacy and skilled in using databases and spreadsheets, particularly Access and Excel, for analysing and modelling
  • Previous experience of working in the Higher Education sector
  • Knowledge of recruitment and admissions processes
  • Experience of managing events
  • An understanding of how marketing relates to student recruitment, the tactics and challenges involved
  • Evidence of ability to work under pressure, work collaborative and able to meet deadlines prioritising work in accordance with schools and College strategic objectives.
  • High-level of personal commitment, organisational skills and decision-making ability to deal with complex and difficult situations autonomously as they arise.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills plus a ‘can-do’ attitude
