Job Summary

Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems is looking for a full time Manager of Research Labs to start immediately. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Research and works directly with Faculty, Research Staff, and students. This position is considered to be Essential Personnel and as such must be occasionally available and able to respond off hours or as directed by the Director of Environmental Compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Purchase, maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment
  • Know and implement all preventive maintenance requirements of the lab equipment, such as Incubators, freezers, cold boxes, etc
  • Keep track when faculty, staff, and students need to borrow School resources and equipment
  • Assist Faculty, Students and Research Staff in logistics of moving large and sensitive equipment.
  • Keep an inventory of all School lab equipment and be the custodian of capital equipment to report location and condition for annual University Asset Management Survey
  • Coordinate with central shipping and receiving the delivery and placement of large lab equipment or supplies
  • Create and track work requests on central facilities system for maintenance and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, custodial, movers, etc.)
  • Work with Faculty when renovations are required and coordinate with central Facilities team
  • Work with the Dean and Associate Dean of Research on space planning and renovations. Keep detailed track of office and lab spaces assigned to Faculty and Research Staff and enter required data into central Facilities Management System

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or technology discipline
  • Experience not required

Preferred Qualifications

Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of electromechanical systems

Able to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics

Experience with wet lab safety protocols

Good troubleshooting skills

Self starter. Needs minimal supervision

Physical Demands

Sitting at a desk/table, standing, walking

Lifting less than 25lbs or less than 50lbs
